Transamerica Pyramid

The stunning landmark skyscrap

Location: San Francisco, United States, North America

Best time to visit: fall/spring

What to do and what to see:

Soaring 853 feet into the San Francisco air, the stunning landmark skyscraper known as the Transamerica Pyramid is one of the city’s most recognizable cityscape features, as well as the tallest building in all of Northern California. The building comprises the whole of the city block at Montgomery Street, and is in close proximity to San Francisco’s Chinatown, North Beach, Jackson Square and Portsmouth Square. For professionals lucky enough to conduct business on the top floors, the massive windows afford unobstructed 360-degree views of the San Francisco Bay. This 48-story building is open only to the office tenants who work in the building, and visitors may be disappointed to learn that tours are not available. However plenty of quality restaurants, hotels, art galleries, nightclubs and shopping attractions are close by, and the area is conveniently served by city mass transit. For impressive close-up views of world-class modern architecture, the Transamerica Pyramid is definitely a top attraction in San Francisco.
